Great Lancashire Wedding Fair 2013

The Great Lancashire Wedding Show is held twice a year at the Bolton Arena. The show is hosted by Little White Books. November 2013 was the first year that we decided to exhibit at this wedding fair. There were approximately 120 exhibitors attending the fair so we wanted to ensure that we put our best foot forward.

The preparation before the fair took us weeks. We had wedding brochures, leaflets and pop up banners printed, which entailed writing all the content for the brochures, selecting photos etc. and agreeing the artwork. As we provide a wide range of services we had to decide what we wanted to actually have on the stand. We ended up having our fantastic chocolate fountain on display thinking it would pull in the crowds, and we were not wrong.

The day before the actual fair my husband and I went to set the stand up which took a good three hours. On the Sunday there were three of us manning the stand – we were rushed of our feet. The crowds were a good 4 deep at the chocolate fountain for most of the day.

I was definitely relieved when it was closing time. Once we packed up we went to our favourite curry house, Forts of India as I was starving not having eaten all day.

Tina & Jules’s Wedding – Pendulum Hotel

Tina & Jules tied the knot at the Pendulum Hotel in Manchester on the 10th May 2014.

We had first come into contact with Tina & Jules when they visited our stand at the Great Lancashire Wedding Show at the Bolton Arena in November 2013.

We then organised a free of charge initial consultation at the venue and went over the colour scheme, table centrepieces ideas, room décor etc. The couple wanted rustic centrepieces and we made a lovely two tier fishbowl centrepiece with a wooden wreath. Our Moroccan lanterns lined the ivory carpet in the ceremony room and we had gold balloons floating on the ceiling in the reception room. It totally transformed the room.

Tina and Jules booked DJ Paul from Party Manchester via ourselves. Paul went to visit them at home to discuss music and which song they wanted to walk down the aisle to. They were so impressed they asked the hotel to cancel the hotel DJ.

Our team dressed the venue the night before and did the finishing touches in the morning. We were there during the day with our chocolate fountain and collected all our equipment the following day.

Katie & Alex’s Wedding at Bradford Ukrainian Club.

How we met – Katie and Alex had started planning their wedding and they were searching for a wedding coordinator / venue dressing company. The couple had already chosen Bradford Ukrainian Club as their venue. Alex – yes the groom, was looking at the venue’s facebook page and saw our post. Katie and Alex then took advantage of our free of charge consultation service. Katie let us know before hand what they had in mind and as part of the consultation we set up a table in the theme Katie had chosen.

I traveled from Prestwich to the Bradford Club to have the initial consultation. Katie and Alex came along with both sets of parents. Katie and Alex had a vision and its during the consultation that the couple have to transfer their vision to the wedding coordinator. They requested having the walls and ceiling of the venue draped together with our starlight backdrop behind the top table, white table linen and chair covers for 140 guests with hot pink organza sashes and candelabras with mirror plates as centerpieces. Katie’s Aunt Olga provide the flowers round the candelabras.

I met up with Katie and her family plus Alex on a number of occasions to ensure that we were all on the same hymn sheet and sharing the same vision. In one meeting Katie bought along one of the bridesmaids dresses so that we could match the chair sashes colour to them.

Initially Katie and Alex were going to enter the hall from the front entrance which would have meant passing the ladies and gents toilets. Katie had requested that we do a balloon tunnel in the corridor to make the entrance more special. However we made a suggestion that Katie and Alex enter the hall by the side entrance , via the beer garden area.  We set out two 1.5 meter tall free standing candelabras, a 30ft long ivory carpet with Moroccan lanterns and we decorated the stairs .

 This went down an absolute treat as it was a glorious sunny day, we were serving welcome drinks outside to the guests. It was just perfect.Bradford Ukrainian club’s hall is a great venue for a wedding or party. Katie and Alex wanted the hall draping. On Thursday we had all the scaffolding delivered to enable us to drape the ceiling. We had 180 meters of voile  plus the the hoop to attach to the chandelier. We arrived at club only to find the young children practicing their Ukrainian Dancing. We measured out the voile from the chandelier to the corners of the hall , then from the stage to the back wall and finally from the windows to the opposite wall. We then attached the voile and the chains to the hoop. My husband Paul , then climb up the scaffolding to attach the chains to the chandelier. Once the hoop was in place we attached all the voile to the walls. After 3 hours of work the ceiling was done.

Friday I had a lie in. All our chair covers , table linen and draping is washed an ironed by Impressed Laundry. Darren their driver dropped all the pressed linen off on Friday ready for us setting the hall up on Saturday.

Saturday 5am whilst most people are still fast asleep I was up and getting ready to pick Caron up ready to travel from Prestwich to Bradford. We arrived at club at 7am and worked solid til 4pm that afternoon. We draped the walls of the hall, dressed the tables and chairs, did the centerpieces, put the wine out on the tables, set the ivory carpet etc up outside and served the welcome drinks.

I then took Caron and my hubby Paul to Mumtaz Indian Restaurant in Bradford for a meal. This was my breakfast, lunch and evening meal all rolled into one. I had an hours rest , watched some of the Eurovision Song contest and then travelled back to Bradford to pack everything away. Finally got home at 3am .

A long days work but the results were well worth it.

Victoria & Albert Marriott Hotel Wedding Fair- April 2015

A vibrant Manchester city centre hotel, located on the banks of the River Irwell, the Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel exudes a historical charm that appeals to business and leisure travelers. This four-star hotel in Manchester was first built as a warehouse in 1844.

The Specialist Event Company Ltd worked with Margaret Ridings, Special Events Executive at the Hotel to bring you the Victoria & Albert Wedding Fair which took place on the 19th April 2015. The hotel provided the Room and we coordinated everything else from advertising the wedding fair to working with all the exhibitors.

Therefore we had banners made advertising the wedding fair. The banners were made by Need A Print. Next we created an event on Facebook and invited brides to attend. We also created an event on Stall Finder and Eventbrite. Stallfinder so that exhibitors could enquire about stalls and EventBrite so brides could register for their free tickets.

We also took an advert in the Lancashire Advertiser providing details of the wedding fair, who was exhibiting etc. Finally we had goody bags printed for the first 50 brides.

Each exhibitor was given exclusivity and in the end there were 20 Stalls, ranging from Wedding Stationery suppliers, Celebrant services to Venue dressers. Bella Rose Bridal Wear did a great catwalk show and John Kay entertained the visitors with Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra songs.  I even got to dance with a stormtrooper….which made my day!!!

During the course of the wedding fair Manchester Wedding DJ Paul Gee provided background music.

The feedback from both the Hotel and exhibitors was positive and we look forward to working with you all again in the not to distant future.

Catherine and David’s Wedding at Thornton Manor

Catherine Bunce – the Bride to be got in touch with ourselves via email in February 2015 with regards to booking a chocolate fountain package for her wedding in June at Thornton Manor.

We provided Catherine with two quotes – one for just a single chocolate fountain and one for two chocolate fountains. Like any smart bride Catherine was shopping around. She shared a competitors quote with us and guess what we were £200 cheaper on both packages, and on top of this they did not have an LED illuminated base round their fountain.

Catherine booked us on the 27th Feb 2015 . Our team arrived at the Lakeside Marquee at Thornton Manor in good time and we set up our chocolate fountain. The guests all commented on how great it looked and how delicious the chocolate and dips were.

We had a great time – Catherine and her husband David arrived on a boat crossing the lake to the marquee, all the guests were gathered outside to welcome them. Also it was fun watching Catherine tossing her bouquet to her single friends.

Matt & Dan’s Wedding – Peckforton Castle

Peckforton Castle was the stunning venue that was chosen by Matt & Dan for their wedding on the 30th December 2014. The Castle has been designated as a Grade I listed building.

The building has not been used as a family residence since 1939. During the 1970s and 1980s it was used as a location for shooting films and television programmes. The castle was bought in 1988 by Evelyn Graybill, who converted it into a hotel. In 2006 it was purchased by the Naylor family, who expanded its use to include hosting weddings, conferences, and other functions.

Our company first met Matt and Dan when they attended a wedding fair that we had organised , prior to that we had been in contact by email. Prior to committing themselves they wanted to see the quality of our venue dressing in person instead of just photos.

The couple had dedicated two years to planning every detail of their wedding and were very hands on. Therefore attention to detail was a must.

We collected 220 Naomi Roses and 250 Gypsophila on the Saturday before the wedding and started making the Candelabra flowers and top table flowers the day before the wedding. Six hours later the flowers were complete and looked amazing.

On the day itself we did the venue dressing for the Great Hall, The Hexagonal Room and the Gallery. It was amazing and we would like to thank Matt, Dan and all the staff at Peckforton Castle who made us feel very welcome.

Great Lancashire Wedding Show 2014

After our success at The Great Lancashire Wedding Show last year we decided to take a stand twice the size. This time the show fell on the same weekend as my husband’s birthday, so it was extremely busy – Beer festival , Saturday set up for the show, Sunday – show and Monday we had a belated family meal to celebrate his birthday.

The show was on a much larger scale this year. We were stand 49 not far from the cat walk.Having been so busy last year we looked at lessons learned, and had a brochure with price lists ready for customers, had a prize draw on a I-pad and had more staff. The best thing was having our laser projecting on the arena wall with our name and stand number.

Once again our stand was reasonably busy with customers interested in everything which we had to offer. The Ferrero Rocher Pyramid attracted a great deal of attention, as did the chocolate fountain and Starlight Back drop.

Kelly & Howard’s Wedding – Mitton Hall Hotel

Kelly and Howard got married at Mitton Hall Hotel set in the heart of the fabulous Ribble Valley. The wedding took place on the 10th April 2014. It was a lovely intimate affair.

Prior to the wedding Kelly contacted our company to provide a candy buffet and chocolate fountain package to keep their guests entertained. We had been at Mitton Hall the previous month for Gina’s wedding and the staff were happy to see us again. We exchanged marshmallows covered in chocolate for bacon barms.

The wedding had lots of young children in attendance and they loved all the sweets and the fountain. If was such good fun.

Stephanie and Chris’s Wedding – Heaton House Farm

Heaton House Farm is a bespoke wedding venue set on the borders of Cheshire and Staffordshire and is the perfect place to host your big day, whether it involves a civil ceremony, a traditional reception following a church wedding, Asian wedding, Jewish wedding or another type of celebration. This was the venue chosen by Stephanie and Chris for their wedding celebrations.

The wedding took place on Friday 28th March 2014. Our chocolate fountain was situated in the main lobby area with the photo booth.It was fun watching the guests getting dressed up in the props provided.

Another highlight of the party was watching Stephanie and Chris strutting their stuff on the dance floor for the first dance. They were having the time of their lives, it was great to watch.

The bride and groom, bridesmaids and guests had a great time posing with the fountain and indulging in the delicious Belgium chocolate and fab dips.

Saskia Bate , Event Coordinator at Heaton House Farm and her team made us feel very welcome, which was greatly appreciated.

Gina & Nick’s Wedding – Mitton Hall

Gina & Nick held their wedding reception at Mitton Hall Hotel. Mitton Hall is an effortlessly beautiful and unashamedly romantic wedding venue. Both historic and contemporary, a unique combination that has earned a reputation that is second to none and established Mitton Hall as one of the best wedding venues in the area. Perfect for smaller weddings & celebrations in the intimate oak panelled rooms and for a grand affair in the aptly named Party Room.

The wedding took place on the 16th March 2014. Our company was hired to provide a chocolate fountain package for the evening. There were approximately 100 guests and we had a fabulous time as the guests were very interactive. The guests could not wait to get stuck into the pure Belgium Chocolate and delicious dips.

The staff at Mitton Hall were very friendly and took care of us, which was much appreciated.
